Fábio Alves, a bartender working at the Columbus Cocktail & Wine Bar in Faro, won the title of Best Portuguese Bulldog Bartender 2013.
Organised by Bulldog Gin, the competition saw six semi-finalists from across Portugal ‘shaking and stirring’ for the top prize. The Algarvian Fábio Alves was awarded the title of National Champion, thanks to his cocktail ‘Scarlet’. The final, held in Lisbon, took a format similar to television show Master Chef, with a panel of renowned judges, such as the Bulldog Gin CEO, Anshuman Vohra, the Empor Spirits CEO, Caetano Beirão da Veiga, Portuguese chef Justa Nobre, drinks specialist Fernando Brito and the Bulldog Gin Brand Ambassador in Portugal, Nuno Côdea.
The National Champion was selected for his professionalism, skills and creativity when preparing a cocktail that had to stand out for being unique and use as a base ingredient the famous Bulldog Gin.
As the prize, Fábio Alves will be travelling to New York where he will be part of the team at the Bulldog Bar during the famous Vogue Fashion Night Out event.
