Missing Portuguese emigré fell into well

21-year-old Portuguese emigré Gonçalo Côto went missing in Vila Real on Saturday evening, leaving his family distraught and prompting their request for searches. These began at 8am today, and within an hour the young man was found down a well, exhausted, disoriented and dehydrated. Say reports, he was strong enough to shout for help when he heard people’s voices above, as search parties approached the well. Gonçalo has been transported to hospital. The well he fell into appears to have been uncovered, and ‘difficult to see’ given the surrounding vegetation.
