Pauline Padley is one of those unsung heroes who is dedicated to the plight of abandoned animals.
Last weekend she threw open the doors of her villa in Luz de Tavira to raise funds for the Asociación Protectora de Animales de Ayamonte, which is a temporary home to many abandoned dogs and cats.
The charity does valuable work both sides of the border but is in constant need of funds.
More than €800 was raised thanks to the many friends who supported the event. Local singer and belly dancer Aleta entertained the guests while an auction helped swell the funds.
Pauline, who has built specially equipped accommodation at her home for the many kittens and cats she has rescued, said: “We are constantly looking for new homes for the abandoned animals who are fully checked and inoculated before being re-homed.”
