A 39-year-old woman was killed and her one-year-old baby daughter badly hurt in a head-on collision with a truck on the EN124 in Messines.
The tragic crash happened on Monday at around 4.30pm in Sítio das Cortes.
National tabloid Correio da Manhã said the woman “still showed signs of life” when emergency services arrived at the scene but did not survive her injuries.
Her daughter was rushed to Faro Hospital, where she remains in intensive care at Faro Hospital’s paediatrics unit with a “reserved prognosis,” a source from the Algarve university hospital board (CHUA) has told Lusa news agency.
