JULY PROMISES to be exciting at the Fiesa sand sculpting festival in Pêra, with outdoor cinema, fado, classic guitar and electronic music just some of the events planned.
The festival opened to the public on June 7 and has already been visited by hundreds of people. This year’s theme, The Wonders of the World, features Noites Festróia (Festróia Evenings), from July 23 to July 29, an initiative which is part of the Tróia Cinema Festival where some films featured in the festival will be shown at 9pm.
A concert by Guitarras Loucas will take place on July 12 and the Mo Jazz Trio will perform on July 19. All concerts begin at 9pm.
Wednesday evenings will feature Jam Sessions with musicians of various styles and Fridays are dedicated to techno and trance music by numerous DJs. Fiesa was constructed in just one month by 50 international sculptors from all over the world using 35,000 tonnes of sand over an area of 15,000sqm.
Fiesa is open from 10am to midnight.
