Navy weapons

Two Portuguese Navy patrol vessels are being equipped with new weapons systems ordered in 2010 and costing around €4 million. According to Alexandre Santos Fernandes, a spokesman for the Armed Force, completion of the work is expected in November and includes training programmes for the officers. The ships in question are the NRP Viana do Castelo, serving the Navy since April 2011, and the NRP Figueira da Foz, in its final stages of construction at the Viana do Castelo naval shipyard.
