An organisation which promotes civic and social responsibility in the workplace launched a new award for Company Social Responsibility at the British Embassy earlier this month.
GRACE, Grupo de Reflexão e Apoio à Cidadania Empresarial, launched the award for innovative academic research projects into Social Responsibility in the Workplace on June 2.
Sponsored by the British Embassy in Portugal and supported by British Airways, the award aims to reinforce an exchange of ideas with other civic entities such as universities, NGOs and company associations.
It will distinguish the best academic research project in the Corporate Social Responsibility field being developed in private and public higher educational institutions in Portugal.
The Award is aimed at Portuguese or foreign post-graduate, doctorate and masters students, and the projects have to be presented and discussed in public.
The jury is made up of representatives from firms, associations and academic institutions and includes HMA Alex Ellis, António Rendas, President of the Council of Portuguese University Rectors, Carlos Magno, ISCEM academic and journalist, António Pires de Lima, President of Unicer, Luís Portela, President of Bial, Miguel Athayde Marques, President of NYSE Euronext Lisbon, Vasco Teixeira, President of Porto Editora, Vera Pires Coelho, President of Edifer and Maria da Conceição Zagalo, President of GRACE.
