PARCHAL HAS an E.Leclerc supermarket plus eight other shops within a commercial space of more than 1,500sqm, following an official opening on Friday, August 3.
Residents now have a supermarket, a tobacconist, a perfumery, a bakery, a pet supplies shop, an electrical appliance store, a mobile phone shop and a hairdresser.
Filipe Vinois, administrator for this and the other E.Leclerc in Portimão, said: “Parchal is an area to be developed as there were no other commercial centres on this side of the river. It was a good opportunity. The group’s strategy is to sell as cheaply as possible, with quality.”
Eight million euros were invested in this project, which has provided around 180 jobs. E.Leclerc is the third largest supermarket company in France and has opened a total of 16 stores across Portugal as well as a further 634 stores across Europe.
Mr Vinois said: “The aim is to open a further 30 stores in three or four years.”
Opening hours of the new shopping centre are from 8.30am until 11pm in summer and 8.30 am until 10pm in winter.
Customers will also have access to a free car park of 450sqm and the company has put in plans to construct a petrol station there also.
