As the business strategy of Peninsula Motorsport, formerly Puxar Lustro, is changing, professional driver Michael Prophet has joined Phil Egginton in the business based at the Algarve Motor Park.

After more than 25 years in the motorsport industry, Michael Prophet recognised the potential to develop services at the Algarve Motor Park and believes that his skills will not only benefit residents and visitors in the Algarve but also the track itself.

“The decision to come here and be part of Peninsula Motorsport was due to a combination of factors. I have known Phil Egginton for many years and when I heard about the developments of the company in the Algarve, this teamed with the fantastic facilities and the fact that no one else had based a motorsports support facility of the track, this was the perfect time to get involved.”

Michael is now an equal partner in the company with Phil Egginton and will be putting his vast motorsports knowledge to use at the track from organising pit assistance for visiting teams to providing driving courses for recently qualified drivers.

“Although we provide professional motorsport services, we are open to everyone, whether it be for advice, to purchase equipment, book a driving course or just for a chat about motorsport,” said Michael.

Michael Prophet is a well-known name in the motorsport industry having worked as a racing driver since 1972, with his latest win being a victory in the 24hrs Dubai competition driving the Aston Martin GT4 while also using his skills as a qualified instructor as the lead instructor at the Dubai Autodrome in the United Arab Emirates since 2006.

“I hold an international C competition licence and apart from competing, I have also been the pace car, safety car and course car driver for many national and international events including GP2 and GT1, and I hope to be able to use my official FIA standing here in the Algarve,” he said.

Peninsula Motorsport will be holding an official opening reception day today (Friday) during the Le Mans race weekend at the Algarve Motor Park near Portimão between 6.30pm and 8.30pm.
