A NEW hi-tech institute has been launched by the EU in Budapest, Hungary, to foster academic ties with industry.
The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), which will receive 300 million euros worth of funding from the EU, held its inaugural meeting on Monday.
The EIT hopes to pool the expertise of universities, research bodies and businesses in new partnerships to generate more European technological advances, especially in the areas of renewable energies and IT.
