New resort opens

A new development, the Eden Resort in Albufeira, was due to be inaugurated yesterday (Thursday, Portugal Day).

The project, which has cost 60 million euros to develop, is set in 11 hectares and consists of 198 properties varying from one bedroom, priced from 238,000 euros, to four bedroom villas costing up to one million euros.

Classed as a four-star resort, the properties on the development have been built to attract second home owners as well as those looking to invest in the property market, and also home owners who intend to use the property as their primary residence.

Some of the amenities available at the resort include five outdoor pools, an indoor pool with sauna, a spa, playground, supermarket, clubhouse and bar.

The resort will employ 50 staff under the leadership of Vasco Paulo.

The new resort has been developed paying close attention to the environment and only 20 per cent of the total area had been used for construction, with the other 80 per cent being dedicated to green areas.

Further environmental practices at the resort also include the use of solar panels for water heating in properties and room temperatures, reducing energy consumption by up to 40 per cent in each home.

Meanwhile, a fibre optic loop surrounding the resort ensures a high level of security. Children are able to wear a bracelet which connects to the fibre optics system which is able to pinpoint the location of the wearer and warn those monitoring if the wearer is approaching the boundary of the resort.

“The Eden Resort represents a concept that has been planned as a whole and in great detail with the aim of providing guests with a relaxed, idyllic family environment which is also modern and secure,” said Raul Gomes, chief of marketing for the project.
