Low cost Irish airline Ryainair has announced a new route between Faro and Manchester to begin on April 13.
This takes the total number of routes between the Algarve and UK operated by Ryanair up to 13 and comes just one month after the announcement that the company was launching a Faro to Doncaster service.
Flights between the Algarve and the city in the north west of England will be daily and it is hoped that this new route will bring an extra 100,000 passengers to the region.
Daniel Carvalho of Ryanair said: “The investment of Ryanair in Portugal continues with the opening of this route and it is hoped that this 13th route between Faro and the UK will contribute to the development of tourism and the larger economy of the Algarve as a whole.”
A spokesman from Faro Câmara told the Algarve Resident: “The municipality of Faro expresses its hope that this initiative is successful and we welcome this investment which has the power to be able to create jobs while strengthening the leading role of Faro airport within a national context.”
