TAVIRA WILL see the development of a new shopping centre called Tavira Gran Plaza near the Vale Caranguejo roundabout and the Municipal Sports Pavilion, at the entrance of the city.
Tavira Gran Plaza is expected to house around 50 commercial spaces, 10 restaurants or snack areas, four cinema screens and 1,050 underground parking spaces. The shopping centre is also due to have a central square where all the escalators and stairs will converge as well as a space for the replanting of all the trees that need to be dug up due to the construction of the project.
Mario Carlos Sua Kay is the architect responsible for the design of this new development, having started his career in the UK and worked on other architectural projects in Portugal. Such projects include PT Comunicações and Banif Bank headquarters as well as the Parque das Nações in Lisbon.
