SEVERAL COMPLAINTS were allegedly lodged during the summer with the police for excessive noise against footballer Luís Figo’s Se7e bar in Vilamoura marina but these have subsided as the summer comes to a close.
Neighbours living above the nightspot complained on several occasions that the music was too loud, they were unable to sleep and that even their walls shook (See The Resident July 27).
After asking the owners to turn the music down, they were forced to involve police as the music was allegedly turned up in what neighbours called spite.
Neighbours said it showed a lack of respect for the full-time residents and one woman decided to display a large sign off her balcony in protest but she was forced to remove it by the condominium management.
At the time, Figo’s business partner and co-owner of Se7e bar, Paulo China, had told journalists that they had not broken any noise laws and that there are many other bars in the area which also make noise.
Police say they have not received any more complaints from neighbours about excessive noise and attributed this to the fact that the bars are not open as late and as often.
The law states that, during the day, mixed zones (both residential and commercial areas) such as where Se7e bar is located, are able to make up to 65 decibels of noise before breaking the law and 55 decibels at night, from 10pm until 7am.
The police have still not confirmed whether the noise levels at Se7e bar have exceeded these levels.
