THE TRIAL of two people accused of murdering André Le Floch, the French owner of the Trimaran that capsized in August 2006, is expected to start before the end of the year.
Corrine Caspar and Thierry Beille, both of French nationality, are the main murder suspects of French sailor André Le Floch, owner of the Intermezzo trimaran. Both were formerly accused on July 9 this year.
Antonio Vilar, the defence lawyer for Corinne and Thierry, told the Resident: “I admit that the trial will start around the end of October or beginning of November, but it is not certain.”
He also said that he is rethinking the formal complaint he has made to the European court of Human rights because of lack of access to critical evidence which he needs to present his defence.
António Vilar said that a law was created on August 29, n° 4, 5 and 6 of article 86 of the penal code, which has changed the secret of justice regulations and now allows him access to the files.
Corinne and Thierry are half brother and sister and have been formerly accused of first degree murder, desecration and concealment of a corpse and theft.
André Le Floch’s body was found tied up with weights inside a capsized trimaran boat off the coast of Sagres on August 17, 2006. “Corinne Caspar and Thierry Beille will by law have an interpreter throughout the court case” said António Vilar.
