Dear Editor
It seems that the expat community of the Algarve has an obsession with stray dogs. It’s bad enough that your classified pages carry advertising for prostitutes but all the photos of dogs do seem rather out of place.
I understand that registered charities, mostly run by expats, are responsible for rounding up the strays and with the help of donations from the expat population provide them shelter and use the pages of your newspaper to help find them homes. Are we not missing something here? Surely there are more worthy charities such as orphanages that could be given at least as much, if not more, space within the pages of your newspaper.
