THE ALGARVE registered an overall occupancy rate of 92.2 per cent in August, which is 2.2 per cent above last year’s figure for the same month.
Albufeira was the most popular destination in the region, with an occupancy rate of 98.5 per cent, while Vilamoura, Quarteira and Quinta do Lago registered the lowest rates with 91.5 per cent. Two and three star accommodation registered an increase compared to last year whereas four and five star tourist apartments registered a fall in occupancy this August.
British tourists represented 32.5 per cent of the region’s accommodation occupants.
