A 45-YEAR-old man who suffered a diabetic seizure in Faro had to wait an hour for an ambulance to arrive.
He managed to get himself outside his home and call the emergency services but an ambulance only arrived after repeated calls by family and neighbours. By the time it arrived, Carlos Lemos had been lying on the side of the road, unable to move, for one hour.
The victim’s sister-in-law said: “The emergency services told us it was a police matter and to contact the PSP or GNR. When he finally arrived, the paramedic told us that Faro only has two ambulances and they cannot perform miracles.”
