Play was full of French fancy

Audiences were taken back to war torn France during performances of ‘Allo ‘Allo!, the latest stage production by The Algarveans Experimental Theatre Group, between May 12 and 14 at the Lagoa Auditorium.

Hapless café owner René Artois was still fighting off the amorous advances of the ladies, Michele continued to need everyone to “listen very carefully” and Officer Crabtree, who was “pissing by the cafe”, still had the most appalling French accent, completing the authentic adaptation of the play from screen to stage.

Meanwhile, the Gestapo members were played with full comedic effect, complete with trench coats and German accents with The Fallen Madonna with the Big Boobies remaining high on the agenda.

“It was a great show with brilliant performances from all involved and it was probably one of the best ever productions from The Algarveans,” said Gill Bradley.

“The sets and costumes were exceptionally realistic and true to the television series and it was a marvelous evening’s entertainment.”
