MORE THAN 30,000 calls were made to the national poisons information helpline in 2007, with around one third of these relating to children.
The total number of cases of child poisoning last year was 10,673.
“We will soon be launching a campaign to raise parents’ awareness about the dangers of having medicines and chemical products within easy reach of children,” said a spokesperson for the helpline.
In cases of poisoning, please telephone the helpline, 808 250 143.
