Polish aces

Faro tennis ace Rui Machado partnered Spaniard Daniel Munoz-de-la-Nava to victory over US/Canadian pair James Cerretani and Adil Shamasdin to claim his first ever ATP doubles title in the Poznan Porsche Open.

The Portuguese No2 fared less well in the singles competition where he was beaten in the quarters, as was compatriot Frederico Gil. Both men will continue their preparation for the US Open during August.

Meanwhile, another Algarve top prospect seems to be in the making as Portimão’s Miguel Marreiros took the runner-up spot at the national

U-14s championships.
