Porto employment court says government must make-up BPN workers’ lopped salaries

The state does not want to replace the salaries of BPN workers, lopped in the name of austerity between 2011and 2014 – but the Porto employment court says it must. It was a huge win for the workers’ syndicates fighting the action, even though they are all well aware that the government plans to appeal.

Said Teixeira Guimarães of FEBASE (the federation of the financial sector), workers’ demands involve “hundreds of thousands of euros”.
