Dear Editor,
I read your article with interest and indeed “security” is a great factor for the wellbeing of the tourist.
But wellbeing disappears quickly when you drive on the roads in Portugal. The A22 is just like a race circuit.
When I keep my speed at 120kph, 95 per cent of drivers overtake me with speeds around 160-180 kph.
The EN125 is no different – they all behave like cowboys sticking to my rear bumper blowing their horns because at 90kph I am holding up traffic!
The Portuguese are very friendly people, laid back and showing little productivity, but put them behind the wheel and they are a bunch of idiots. They park where they like and foot-down is their entertainment!
The government could make millions a year, dramatically reducing their deficit, by fining the speeding motorist and maybe reducing the highest road tolls in Europe.
