Recent Eurostat data revealed that Portuguese internet users spent more time posting messages on social networking sites than on other sites.
The statistics about access and use of the internet in the European Union also showed that more than three quarters of homes had access to the world wide web, against 49% in 2006 and 66% in 2009. In Portugal, 61% of homes had access to the internet this year, below the EU average of 72%.
