Portuguese muralist helps ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel’ win Oscars

‘The Grand Budapest Hotel’, which won four Oscars – including Best Production Design – at the 87th Academy Awards on Sunday, had 41-year-old Portuguese muralist Gonçalo Jordão as one of the artists who decorated the walls of the film’s hotel entrance.

In a recent interview with Sábado magazine, Jordão said he was in charge of “the reproduction of a painting by German painter Caspar David Friedrich”.
