AFTER SEVERAL months of hard work and a lengthy application process, businesses have still not received the necessary Licença de Utilização Turística, the property rental licence required to rent property in Portugal (see The Resident June 8).
The owner of a limited company in Silves which rents tourist apartments, who asked not to be named, and Caspo Business, a document and property services company in Carvoeiro, that applies for the property licence on behalf of its clients, have yet to receive any.
Rosa Branco from Caspo Business told The Resident: “All of our applications are with the relevant Câmaras now, so all we can do is wait until we receive the licences. But we are confident that they will be approved within the next few weeks.”
A spokesman from the limited company that is attempting to apply for a licence from Silves Câmara has been given an appointment to meet with Sr. Matias, the Câmara architect in September. The application in process is now on hold until then.
When asked about the property rental licence, a spokesman from Albufeira Câmara said: “The application process is proceeding normally.” Nobody at Silves Câmara was available to comment on the situation regarding the limited company.
