Lagos and Tavira have both been acknowledged for their attractiveness to visitors interested in nature and cultural heritage, environment and sustainability and are now both included in the QualityCoast 2011 top 50 of Southern Europe.
The QualityCoast jury of independent experts chose destinations located in Croatia, Cyprus, France, Greece, Italy, Malta, Romania, Slovenia, Spain and Portugal basing their assessments on performance and sustainability within a realistic national context with the coastal area of Lagos and Santa Luzia in Tavira being the only places in the Algarve to boast the recognition.
The QualityCoast awards are organised by the Coastal and Marine Union (EUCC), an association dedicated to conserving and maintaining healthy seas and attractive coasts for both people and nature.
