THE GOVERNMENT has approved the Plano de Pormenor do Escapadinho, the plan for the new car racing track to be built in Portimão.
The announcement was published in the Diário da República, the state’s official newspaper, of July 12.
The project, which is called Parque de Desportos Motorizados de Portimão- Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, includes not only the racing track but also an international karting track, a sports zone and a technological park.
Hotels and service areas are also included in the plan. According to the government, the project is so important for the region that it is now a ‘PIN project’, which means it is of national interest to the country.
