PORTUGAL’S LARGEST oil refinery in Sines, belonging to Galp, closed on Monday, September 15, to carry out maintenance.
The closure is due to last for around 40 days and Galp’s chief executive, Manuel Ferreira de Oliveira, said that the company will spend 104 million euros on the maintenance and restructuring works at Sines.
He also said that Galp had its stocks at maximum level in preparation for the maintenance, although it may have to increase its imports of oil products to keep up with demand.
