Regions talk

THE REGIONALISATION movement, a group of citizens in Portugal who aim to see the decentralisation of the government leading to the devolvement of power to the regions, launched a new campaign on Wednesday.

The movement aims to gather 15,000 signatures in a petition to be sent to the Portuguese Parliament.

The document asks Portuguese MPs to take a position in what concerns the country’s regions’ administrative reform. The issue was rejected by the Portuguese in a referendum held in 1998 and cannot be opened up to public scrutiny.
