PRIME MINISTER José Sócrates has revealed that he was studying the possibility of imposing what he described as a “Robin Hood tax” in response to criticisms regarding increased fuel prices in Portugal.
Speaking in Brussels, the Portuguese premier said this would mirror a programme already in place in Italy whereby taxes gathered from fuel would be partially redistributed, in the form of social support systems, to those who are affected by rising costs of fuel.
