The Saint Andrew’s Society of the Algarve will be holding its annual ball on Saturday, November 30, at Le Meridien Penina Hotel, near Portimão, from 7pm.
Organisers say: “Since this falls on Saint Andrew’s Day, why not make even more of an effort to come and literally have a ball?”
Participants will be greeted by the skirl of the pipes played by piper Malcolm MacGillivray as they make their way to a champagne reception. A “sumptuous” buffet accompanied by wine will then be offered and coffee will be accompanied by Atholl Brose.
Doug McAdam, Chieftain, said: “We are delighted once again to bring over from Scotland our ceilidh band ‘The Sounds of Islay’ who are guaranteed not only to get your feet tapping, but perhaps also to lure you onto the floor so that you can have fun practising your Scottish country dancing skills – or even having a go for the first time.”
Tickets cost €37.50 for Society members and €40 for non-members.
