SHOP OWNERS in Tavira have banded together to create an association to encourage more customers to the historic centre and to try to stop many stores from closing.
Created by Tavira Câmara and Associação de Comércio e Serviços da Região do Algarve (ACRAL), the association’s main concern is the opening of a new Gran Plaza shopping centre in the area in 2008.
Tavira Câmara President Macário Correia said he was confident that the shop owners in the centre can work side by side with the new shopping centre.
