A NORWEGIAN group is looking to invest in a 150 million euro project in Silves to build a 68 hectare development to provide facilities for investigation into new technologies.

Grieg Group, which, as well as ship owning and ship broking, is engaged in global logistic services, maritime information systems, investment consulting, offshore windmills and fish farming, is looking to create around 2,000 direct jobs with this project.

Silves Câmara President, Isabel Soares said: “This park will be used for the investigation of alternative energies, telecommunication and new technologies,” adding: “it will have houses, offices and a four star hotel.”

Grieg Group is expected to present an application for the project to be classified as a project of Potential National Interest (PIN).
