See you at the BLiP EXPO this weekend!

The Algarve Resident team and colleagues from the Open Media Group, publishers of the newspaper and lifestyle magazines Essential and Inside, look forward to welcoming you to the Better Living in Portugal (BLiP) exhibition this weekend at the Portimão Arena.

Visit us at stands 30 and 31, have a chat and while you are there pick up a free copy of the latest Portugal Blue Pages product and services directory, now in its 10th year of successful publication.

The Algarve Resident is proud to be a sponsor of BLiP, now in its 13th year.

Organiser afpop, Portugal’s largest association for foreign residents, applauds a decision by the Algarve Tourism Board to participate, for the first time, in the fair not only as sponsors but also as stand holders.

Michael Reeve, CEO of afpop, said: “People are realising that expats and foreigners are important to the economy and it’s a clear recognition by the tourism board of this factor.”

He was full of praise for the president of the Algarve Tourism Board, Desidério Silva, who “showed no hesitation” in participating in this year’s event.

Desidério Silva said: “The Algarve Tourism Board is totally available to reinforce the promotion and create greater awareness of the importance of BLiP.”

Another novelty this year is the BLiP Shopping Area which has allowed more of the smaller businesses to attend the fair.

The exhibition space has thus been divided into two parts. One is set aside for the smaller businesses selling their products direct to the public, while the other will house a wide variety of institutions such as finance houses, banks, clinics, hospitals, the British Embassy and car companies, to name but a few.

BLiP was launched in 2001 to show expats in business a way of getting together under one roof, and the first exhibition took place at the Fissul Centre in Silves.

Entry is free, children can be looked after by professional carers, there are lots of prizes to be won and, of course, there will be a wide variety of businesses just waiting to help you.

BLiP is open from 10am to 6pm on Saturday and 11am to 5pm on Sunday.

Parking is plentiful and catering facilities are on-site.
