Traffic on the Algarve Line returned to normal at 22:00 last night, following an accident at a level crossing near Poço Barreto, in the municipality of Silves.
“After the vehicle was removed, train service between Alcantarilha and Silves stations was restored”, a source from Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP) told Lusa news agency.
The alert for a train collision with a car at the level crossing near Poço Barreto, in the municipality of Silves, was issued at 19:31. The accident resulted in two injuries.
The two injured were transported to Portimão Hospital.
Seventeen emergency personnel, supported by seven vehicles, including members of the emergency teams and police forces, were deployed to the scene, according to the website of the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC).
