SIX PEOPLE were seriously injured following a head-on crash between two vehicles on Wednesday morning on the IC1 near Ferreiras, Albufeira.
The Centro Distrital de Operações de Socorros (CDOS), district centre for emergency operations, said the accident caused a fire in one of the vehicles, which had to be combated by 20 firemen.
Fire brigades from Messines, Loulé and Albufeira were supported at the scene by eight fire vehicles and two medical emergency vehicles.
All of the victims of the accident were transported to Faro hospital.
