Sting has been confirmed as the day-one headliner of Portugal’s hugely popular Super Bock Super Rock music festival, which will take place at Lisbon’s Parque das Nações between July 16 and 18.
The man behind such hits as ‘Roxanne’, ‘Message in a Bottle’ and ‘Every Breath You Take’ will be kicking off the festival on July 16, and is the festival’s second confirmed headliner alongside English indie rock band Florence and the Machine, which will take the stage on July 18.
Sting, who rose to fame in the late 1970s as the singer-songwriter, bassist and frontman of English rock band The Police, will stop off in Portugal as part of a summer-long European tour.
His last concert in Portugal was in June 2012, when he performed at the EDP Cool Jazz festival in Oeiras.
Organisers are sure the English artist will bring crowds flocking to the festival, which will be celebrating its 20th anniversary in Lisbon after five years at Meco beach in Sesimbra.
It will take place at four different areas in Parque das Nações – two of them at the massive Meo Arena (previously known as Pavilhão Atlântico).
Daily and three-day tickets (50€ and €95 respectively) are already on sale online at Super Bock Super Rock’s website: (http://superbock.pt/sbsr/pt/site.aspx).
