The Alcantarilha stream has been drained into the ocean by the Portuguese Environmental Agency (APA) due to the downpour of rain that began last Thursday evening. The decision, which was supported by the Armação de Pêra parish council and the Silves municipal authority, was made to avoid floods which normally occur in Armação de Pêra when it rains abundantly.
