Sudan hostages

THE WHEREABOUTS of 11 foreign hostages who were kidnapped in a remote area of south-west Egypt on September 19 were allegedly pinpointed by Sudanese authorities on Tuesday.

A Sudanese official said they were in no-man’s land between the Sudanese, Libyan and Egyptian borders.

At the time The Resident went to press on Wednesday, the German authorities were leading the negotiations with the kidnappers, who are demanding 15 million dollars in ransom. Reports in the Egyptian media said the hostage-takers have threatened to kill the captives if any attempt is made to reach them by aircraft.
