FOR THE summer months, 30 health stations are open along the Algarve’s beaches. The idea is to treat bathers with health difficulties including bites from spider fish, falls, digestive problems, dehydration and so on.
Last year, between July and September, an average of 300 people were treated every day at the stations, which registered a total of 24,510 occurrences.
The number of bathers treated this year should increase due to the opening of two more facilities at Ferragudo and Vilamoura.
Open from 10am to 8pm every day, the majority of the stations will close on August 31, but those located on the Algarve’s main beaches will remain open until September 15.
There are also special daily consultation facilities for tourists in Quarteira, Vila Real de Santo António, Albufeira and Portimão, open from 4pm to 6pm and from 10pm to midnight. In Lagos, the schedule is from 2pm to 10pm on weekdays only.
