John Henderson, a former member of the Royal Canadian Mountain Police, will be giving two talks in the Algarve about his career.
Organised by the Algarve History Association (AHA), the first talk will take place on Monday, March 12 at 6pm at the Clube de Tavira, while the second will be held the following day at the same time at Lagoa’s municipal library.
Henderson started his policing career with the London Metropolitan Police in 1971.
After three years, he returned to Canada to join the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) by whom he was transferred 17 times across Canada.
One of his most interesting and life-altering assignments was his duty as a member of the Canadian Contingent in the Kosovo Police Service (1999/2000).
This assignment was a part of the first armed UN mission in which the RCMP served.
Says John: “It was truly a wonderful and rewarding career with only two or three days in which I might have welcomed a different outcome.”
Anyone can attend the talks, though AHA welcomes voluntary monetary contributions to help run the organisation.
