Hotel Vila Galé Albacora in Tavira has been officially certified as being an Eco-Hotel, the first in the group to be awarded this accolade.
The hotel, which is in the Ria Formosa Natural Park, was inspected by Tüv Rheinland, a German-based company providing technical, safety and certification services, and was given the certification after meeting the strict environmental and safety requirements set out by the company.
Bruno André Martins, the general manager of the hotel, said: “This Eco-Hotel certification represents the efforts we have made at the hotel to significantly reduce the environmental impact of the hotel.
“As we are located in a natural park it has always been a major concern of the hotel to address environmental protection issues.”
Hotel Vila Galé Albacora met requirements concerning energy and water optimisation, improved waste management and reduced environmental impact levels.
