A plan to add more outdoor terraces to the downtown area of Faro has been created by the municipal authority and the association of Faro nightlife entrepreneurs, ANFARO, in order to revitalise business and increase the offer for residents and tourists, especially during the summer months.
The idea came from ANFARO after the owners of various commercial establishments in the area showed interest in recovering and boosting activity in the streets where they were located (Rua do Prior, Travessa dos Arcos and Rua Capitão Mor).
The addition of these terraces, however, will not affect the access of emergency vehicles or pedestrians.
After the owners of these establishments make sure they comply with all the health and safety criteria, all they are required to do is put in a request to the municipal authority.
“We believe that this measure, despite being simple, could stimulate one of the most sought-after areas for nightlife entertainment and which systematically sees business drop, especially during the summer months,” said the Faro authority.
