The leaders

By: EDUARDO OLIVEIRA COSTA

Eduardo Oliveira Costa is a journalist and publisher of several newspapers across Portugal. He is on the board of several organisations, is president of a football club, and has a keen interest in the press, among other media, and the business environment.

WE DON’T want leaders to be perfect! This expression came from the president of the “Oporto Comercial Association” and it was about the “Dragões” leader.

Nobody is perfect – however we do not have much tolerance for the defects of our leaders. Even when it comes to their personal lives, Carolina says. She managed to get a perfectly national audience, laying bare some of Jorge Nuno’s defects.

There is nothing new in the fact that we love knowing the details about famous people. Such details fill the ‘pink’ newspapers and magazines. Anything concerning the life of a ‘famous person’ appears even more important than the increase of the price of fuel!

But as it is more important to be well received than to be funny, positive things are revealed about some, whereas others only negative facts.

If we add to this the national tendency for the jealousy and the slander phenomenon, sometimes the life of a leader becomes impossible.

If he falls out of favour, he remains disgraced! From one minute to the next, someone who was bestial turns into a beast!

Take care the ones with other illusions!
