The right note

IT COULD not have been a better night for Oo-Boop-I-Do, and their leader, Ian Carfrae.

The 10-piece band, which plays music from the roaring 1920s, captivated the audience at the Lagoa Auditorium last Friday night.

The concert was completely sold out. From the first upbeat number to the last, the enthusiastic audience applauded every tune and called for an encore at the end. Ian’s dry sense of humour also resonated with the audience.

The musicians displayed a real enthusiasm and it was music they obviously enjoyed playing. Talking to the audience at the end of the show, one got the impression that if there had been another performance the following night, they would have flooded to it.

By the reaction from the audience, and their insistence that they would tell all their friends, Oo-Boop-I-Do should have no problem finding their next full house.

Success

Variety was introduced with the glitter of girls dancing the Charleston and a Belly Dancer strutting her stuff to Egyptian Ella.

Ian Carfrae then performed his very funny silent tap dance to finish off a fun-filled evening.

Following several requests, it is hoped that a Live in Lagoa CD will be forthcoming.

Lagoa’s Director of Culture was obviously delighted by the success of the evening and even the auditorium’s staff could not resist dancing in the foyer. Ivor Jones
