AN ENGLISHMAN was arrested on Monday after slashing the tyres of several parked cars in Lagos.
The 25-year-old tourist was caught by the owner of a nearby vehicle who tried to stop further vandalism.
A fight ensued before police were called to the scene when the tourist proceeded to turn on the officers, punching and kicking them.
Minutes later, and in the custody of the police officers, the tourist attempted to bribe them into letting him go.
Visibly drunk, the man was arrested and taken to Lagos police station before appearing in court on Tuesday, where he was released without charge, under Termo de Identidade e Residência (TIR), which means the police took the man’s full details in case any of the damaged vehicle owners want to press charges. If so, he will be forced to pay compensation.
