Man confirmed dead in incident involving falling crane in Tavira

First responders still at scene

A construction worker has died in Tavira today, after being hit by a falling crane. A second worker received light injuries, and has been assisted at the scene.

The accident happened at Nora Velha, near the Tavira Plaza commercial centre.

The alert went out shortly before 3pm, but the news has taken its time coming through.

Tabloid Correio da Manhã has carried an image of what looks like the crane on top of some sort of collapsed structure.

On the scene are various first responders and vehicles, including firefighters, INEM paramedics, the GNR and PJ judicial police.

As yet there have been no further details given, but Arenilha TV has covered the incident with a lot of photographs. Comments underneath the story suggest the victim’s name was ‘David’.
