Valverde Lawn Bowls Club in Almancil opened the new season on Saturday, September 21, with their annual Anniversary Pairs competition.
The 28 pairs included visitors from the UK as well as clubs in Portugal and Spain. The first three places all went to Valverde members.
Sue Hunt and Jeff Perry took the first prize with Brian Pullin and Ken Rawlins second. Third place went to Jack Romano with his young grandson Davide Lopes.
Valverde Lawn Bowls Club welcomes new players of all ability levels. Tuition is available if you are new to the game.
