Performances inspired by the music of Brazilian composer Villa-Lobos are taking place in Silves, São Brás de Alportel and Tavira this month.
Directed by Tela Leão, the show will include dance by Simone Marçal and acoustic guitar by Josué Nunes.
British critic and cultural animateur Len Graham from the Qube Arts Oswestry/Ellesmere Sculpture Initiative, said of the show: “This expertly crafted performance takes its audience on a fascinating journey through the evolution of Brazil’s cultural identity. It uses Villa-Lobos’ Five Preludes for classical guitar, brilliantly performed by Josué Nunes, to accompany the fluent dancing of Simone Marçal, whose expressive face carries us exuberantly through the ever-changing moods and idioms of the programme narrative.”
